Benson & Langehough Funeral Home & Cremation and Bierman Funeral Home & Crematory has been has been a part of the Northfield Community families for years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come.

Benson & Langehough Funeral Home & Cremation

Benson & Langehough Funeral Home & Cremation has been a part of the Northfield Community for over 50 years. In 1966, Duane Benson purchased the Zanmiller Funeral Home, which had been in business on Division Street since 1934. In 1971, he purchased the then Anderson Funeral Home on the corner of Fourth & Washington and consolidated the funeral homes. In 2001, when Duane retired, Andy and Suzanne Langehough assumed the business. Nationally recognized for innovation and commitment to service excellence, we listen to families to help them create simple ceremonies to one-of-a-kind tributes that become cherished experiences. Our professional and caring staff takes pride in providing high quality and affordable funeral services that meet the special needs of your family.

After 68 years of service, the Benson builidng was decommissioned. A service of thanksgiving was offered on March 14, 2024. We look forward to what the next chapter of this property holds in our community.

Bierman Funeral Home & Crematory

Bierman Funeral Home & Crematory has been family-owned and operated since 1906, when it was founded by A.W. Bierman. Jim Bierman, A.W.’s grandson, took over operations from his father John and his uncle, Bill. Bierman Funeral Home is located on the south edge of Northfield next to the high school. Our chapel offers seating for over 200 people. We have a lighted off-street parking lot and provide a reception area for families to use. Our funeral home is handicap accessible.

Andy Langehough and Jim Bierman became partners in 2015, Jim retired shortly after but stayed involved with the funeral home in various capacities. In 2020, Bryce Beckstrand and Preston Eidenschink partnered with Andy and Suzanne Langehough, and in 2023, Preston retired and moved to North Dakota to be closer to family. Andy, Suzanne and Bryce merged the two locations into the Bierman location by the high school shortly after.

Bryce and his family now own and operate the funeral home and Andy works full time until he is ready to take a larger step back. We are proud of the services we offer to Northfield and the surrounding areas. Both of these businesses started as family-owned businesses to serve Northfield and we still maintain that important distinction. We love this area and are grateful for the opportunity to help its families in their greatest time of need.

Our purpose has always been to provide, considerate and thoughtful service to all types of people, from all walks of life. Since every funeral is important and unique, we do everything we can to ensure the family’s wishes are carried out. We offer a complete range of quality services from funerals to cremation, and are experienced at honoring many faiths and customs. We invite you to contact us with your questions, and we are glad to arrange a tour of our comfortable facilities.
