Elaine Marie Malecha Graff was born December 22, 1925, on the family farm in Rice County, Minnesota, to Frank and Lillian (Sevcik) Malecha. She was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale, and attended Millersburg country school and Northfield High School. She married Robert Sylvester Graff on November 14, 1944, at Immaculate Conception. After marriage they bought the Graff family farm where they worked together and raised four children. When the children were grown, Elaine worked part time at Margaret Stark’s Gift Shoppe and Jenkins Jewelers – jobs she truly enjoyed. Bob passed away on October 11, 2015.
Elaine was an active member of the Church of St. Dominic and her faith meant everything to her – showing through in the life she lived. Elaine was an elegant, kind and sensitive woman who always had a smile.
Survivors include her children: Steve (Sue) of Northfield, Gene (Barb) of Clear Lake, Mary (Paul) Skluzacek of Northfield; 8 grandchildren: Chris, Jon (Angie), Jessi (Jared) Hubers, Jake (Steph), Adam, Justin (Erin), Katie (Rick) Montpetit, Ryan Skluzacek; 12 great-grandchildren: Collin, Sydney, Matthew, Allison, Courtney, Olivia, Kate, Evelyn, Henry, Blair, Max & Isla; her brother, Clarence (Virginia) Malecha of Faribault; her sister-in-law, Cathy Malecha of Pequot Lakes; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Robert, her son David, her brother Alvin Malecha and her parents.
Surrounded by the love of her family, Elaine entered into eternal life on Tuesday afternoon, February 28, 2017, at the Northfield Hospital Long Term Care Center, at the age of 91.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30A.M., Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Northfield. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Visitation will be 2-5PM Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.
Memorials are preferred to St. Dominic Catholic Church or St. Dominic School.
