Clarence Henry Trenda was born February 13, 1917, on the family farm in Lankin, North Dakota, to James and Mary (Sherek) Trenda.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Catholic Church in Lankin and attended both country and town schools.  After his education he worked on the family farm and in 1934-35 at the CC Camps in North Dakota.  In 1936, he came to Lonsdale on a vacation to visit his cousin Charlie Rezac.  While in Lonsdale he met his future wife, Albina Rose Nerud.  Clarence decided to stay in Lonsdale and they married on November 22, 1938, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  After marriage they farmed near Webster (‘38-46) near Faribault (‘46-50) near Northfield (‘50-56).  In 1956, they bought their farm in Greenvale Township where they remained until moving to Northfield in 2002.  Over the years Clarence also worked as a carpenter, at Menasha Corp. in Lakeville and at the Mt. Olivet Retreat Center.

Clarence was a member of the Church of St. Dominic and a 50+ year member of the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed gardening and attended Farmer’ Market, playing cards, dancing, traveling, and going to the casino and horse races.  He was independent and hardworking and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Albina; 4 children and their spouses: Charlotte and Irvin Becker of Faribault, Ramona and Joseph Reichert of Faribault, Sandra and Terry Johnson of Shell Lake, Wisconsin, Clarence Jr. and Candice of Hastings;   12 grand, 18 great-grand, and 8 great-great-children; 3 step-great-grand and one step-great-great-grandchild;  2 sisters-in-law: Julie Tupy of Faribault, Violet (Stanley) Chromy of New Prague; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joan in August 2012; his grandson, Gary Reichert; his parents; his sisters: Mary Novak, Sophie Flaten, Julia Vovial; and his brothers: James, Joseph and Robert.

Clarence passed away Sunday evening, January 27, 2013, at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield, at the age of 95.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM Friday, February 1, 2013, at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield with Fr. Dennis Dempsey officiating.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Northfield.  Visitation will be 4-7PM Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield.  Visitation will continue at the church on Friday one hour prior to the funeral.

Memorials are preferred to the Three Links Bus Fund or the Church of St. Dominic.
