Ruth Engh, age 95 of Minneapolis, passed away Friday morning, April 27, 2018, at Mount Olivet Home in Minneapolis. Ruth Alice Engh was born November 14, 1922, in Elko, Minnesota, to Nels and Karoline (Vick) Engh, both Norwegian immigrants. She was baptized and confirmed at Solor Lutheran Church in Webster, attended elementary school in Elko and graduated from Lakeville High School in 1942. Ruth Engh, age 95 of Minneapolis, passed away Friday morning, April 27, 2018, at Mount Olivet Home in Minneapolis.

Ruth Alice Engh was born November 14, 1922, in Elko, Minnesota, to Nels and Karoline (Vick) Engh, both Norwegian immigrants. She was baptized and confirmed at Solor Lutheran Church in Webster, attended elementary school in Elko and graduated from Lakeville High School in 1942. In 1943, Ruth enrolled in the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, graduating in 1945. Following her education she spent a few years working in Minneapolis and Sioux Falls, South Dakota before joining Augsburg Publishing House in downtown Minneapolis. Ruth spent 37 years at Augsburg working in various positions, retiring in 1989.

Ruth was a longtime member of Oak Grove Lutheran Church in Richfield and a former member of St Paul’s Lutheran in Minneapolis. She spent her last 3 ½ years at Mount Olivet Home in Minneapolis, enjoying her many resident and staff friends, participating in social and learning activities, and going on group outings. Her favorite thing to do was watch the Twins games both on TV and in the stadium.

Survivors include nieces and nephews Linda (Keith) Knudson, Paul (Nancy) Olson, Rose (Dick) Benson, Richard (Dianna) Thompson, LuVerne (Martha) Wallace), Karen and Carolyn Engh, and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Myrtle Thompson, Evelyn Olson, Helen Wallace, her brothers John, Henry, Walter and Norman Engh, and her niece Sharon Wallace Carlson and nephews Duane and Gerald Olson.

A service will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Solor Lutheran Church in Webster. Interment will be in the Engh family plot at Solor Lutheran Cemetery, Webster. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow.

Memorials are preferred to Solor Lutheran Church of Webster, Oak Grove Lutheran Church of Richfield, or Mount Olivet Home in Minneapolis.
