Rose Ann Tussing, age 82 of Northfield, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday morning, May 20, 2018, at the care center of the Northfield Retirement Community.

Rose Ann Trnka Tussing was born May 18, 1936, on the family farm in Webster Township, Rice County, Minnesota, to Beatrice Trnka. (Shortly before her birth, her father, John Nerud, passed away.) Rose was baptized and confirmed at Annunciation Catholic Church in Hazelwood, attended country school through 5th grade, and graduated from Northfield High School in 1954. Following graduation, Rose Ann worked as a waitress and at the Carleton College Print Shop. On October 1, 1960, she married John Francis Tussing at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield. After marriage they made their home in Northfield, and Rose stayed at home as mother and homemaker. John passed away on November 27, 2017. Rose was a member of St. Dominic’s and the Northfield Garden Club. She particularly enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, watching the Minnesota Twins and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children Jim (Julie) of Apple Valley, Michael (Debora) of Shakopee, Susan of Northfield, Kevin (Kellee) of Northfield; two grandchildren Amanda and Jackie; 8 sisters-in-law Rose Ann Palmer, Mary Barron, Dorothy Hadley, Lucille Rasinski, Phyllis (Robert) Thour, Ruth Maurer, Cecile (Loren) Chandler, Joan Miller; 3 brothers-in-law Roger (Charlyn) Moore, Eugene Moore, Arthur (Rozena) Moore; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years John, and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00AM, Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield. Interment will be Friday, May 25, 2018, in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be 4-7PM, Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service.
Memorials are preferred to the Prairie’s Edge Humane Society in Northfield.
