Patricia Ann Dreelan Skluzacek was born January 30, 1943, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to James and Gertrude Dreelan and passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017, in Northfield. Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was raised in St. Paul and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1961. She met Don, her husband of 53 years, while studying interior design at the University of Minnesota. The couple moved to Northfield where they raised their family. Pat was a day care provider when her children were young, worked in the school system when they were school-aged, and later became a travel agent. Pat worked at VIP Travel in Northfield for over 15 years until her retirement in 2008. When she wasn’t attending her grandkids’ activities, she loved to travel, play tennis and gather with friends. Pat was an active volunteer at St. Dominic’s Church and within the Northfield community.

Pat battled sarcoma for 8 years, facing each new challenge with courage, wit and grace. Her resiliency and optimism amazed us all. As part of her legacy, and consistent with her desire to make the world a better place, Pat chose to leave her body to Mayo Clinic for medical advancement.

Survivors include husband Don; her children, Teri (Mike) Carlisano of Eagan, Jean (John) Noack of Northfield, Christian Skluzacek of Munich, Germany; her grandchildren: Dominic, Celia, and Isabel Carlisano; Adam, Gabbie and Clara Noack; her brothers Paul (Carolyn) Dreelan of Mendota Heights, John (Lou) Dreelan of St. Paul; sister Joan (Dan) Mitchell of Roseville. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Peggy and brother Mike.

A memorial Mass will be held at 9:30AM, Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield. Visitation will be 3-7PM, Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Church of St. Dominic. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Northfield.

Memorials are preferred to Rein in Sarcoma Foundation or Catholic Charities.

So sorry, Don, Teri, Jeanie, and Christian, for your loss. I admired Pat very much for her wonderful spunk, her zest for life, her joy to be with family and friends, her intense desire to learn and challenge herself, her kindness, her fortitude. I loved her. May she rest in peace. Friends forever, Carol Ernste

Don and Family: I am truly sorry I was not able to make Pat’s visitation or funeral. I did, however, want to relate to you how sorry I am to hear of her passing. By all accounts in reading her obituary, she remained the same wonderful person throughout her life that she was in our high school years at Mechanic Arts. As you may or may not know, she and I were “boy and girlfriend” for a period of time and she was my prom date in her junior year. Her sense of humor, kind kind demeanor and enthusiasm, made her a STAR among her high school classmates and obviously a star in her family and among the many friends and acquaintances she had throughout her life. She will be terribly missed, but has left a legacy that only few of us could hope to attain. My deepest sympathy. Bob Mitchell
