Joyce Snede, age 85 of Northfield, passed away with her family by her side on Thursday evening, January 25, 2018, at Reflections Care Suites on the Three Links Campus. Joyce Arlene Brenden Snede was born October 4, 1932, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Odin Leonard and Helen Gelia (Solem) Brenden. Joyce Snede, age 85 of Northfield, passed away with her family by her side on Thursday evening, January 25, 2018, at Reflections Care Suites on the Three Links Campus.

Joyce Arlene Brenden Snede was born October 4, 1932, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Odin Leonard and Helen Gelia (Solem) Brenden. She graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1950 and moved to St. Paul to attend Ancker School of Nursing. On September 12, 1953, Joyce married Kenneth Snede at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire and they moved to Oklahoma. In 1955, they returned to Minnesota and moved to Bloomington. Joyce worked as a Register Nurse at Ancker Hospital, Shakopee Medical Center and the Minnesota Masonic Home. In 1975, Ken and Joyce moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. During those years Joyce worked in various capacities as a nurse until she retired in 1995. In 2006, Joyce and Ken moved to Northfield.

Joyce was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and a former active member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Lake Havasu City. She was also active in WELCA and the Lake Havasu Kiwanians. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, rosemaling, reading and writing – especially books for her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Ken; her children Kristi (William) Henry of Apple Valley, James (Cheryl) of Eagan; 5 grandchildren Laura (Mark) Shoun, Nathan Henry (Jessica Fields), Daniel Snede, Cara (Nick) Gessell, Cole Snede; 3 great-grandchildren Gavin, Stella and Emila; her sister Judy (Daryl) Kuyper of Northfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Marlyn and Daryl Brenden.

Services will be 11AM, Monday, January 29, 2018, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1321 North Ave., Northfield. A reception will follow. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Memorials are preferred to WELCA.
