Jerome (Jerry) Leon Adams was born on March 18,1939, in Mankato, Minnesota, to Leon and Margaret (Denn) Adams. He attended school in Mapleton, Minnesota Lake and Janesville, MN. In high school Jerry participated in baseball and basketball. He was All-Conference in Basketball. Jerry’s first job along with working on the family farm in Janesville was driving a bread route for Mom’s Bread. Hence, the salesman in him was taking shape. After graduation he moved to Cannon Falls, working at the grain elevator and bartending at the Cannon Falls Muni. That was the beginning of a long career in the liquor business. He bartended at the Lakeville Liquor Store, the Evergreen Knoll and then the Northfield Liquor Store (“The Muni”) where he met his wife, Karleene Robbie.

Jerry and Karleene moved to Dundas, MN in 1972 after purchasing the Dundas Corner Bar. Later they purchased the old bank building next door and opened the “Off-Sale”. In 1983 Jerry and Karleene purchased a building on Hwy 3 expanding the liquor store and naming it Firehouse Liquor. They also owned The Corner Mart next door to Firehouse Liquor.

Jerry was a volunteer rescue squad and fireman for the Northfield Fire Department from 1962 to 1972, resigning when they purchased the Corner Bar and moved to Dundas. In 1982 Jerry was elected Mayor of Dundas, he served in this role for 4 years. Because of his experience with the Northfield Fire Department, he was instrumental in working with Northfield to provide services to the city of Dundas. He served on the board of the Dundas Dukes for many years. If you ever attended a playoff game, he most likely sold you your entrance ticket. He was also a member of the Sertoma Club.
