Janette Johnson, age 83 of Little Chicago, passed away with her family by her side on Friday morning, November 3, 2017, at New Perspective in Faribault. Janette Carol Johnson was born June 3, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Carl and Lillian (Olson) Ekberg. She was raised in Minneapolis and attended South High School. Janette Johnson, age 83 of Little Chicago, passed away with her family by her side on Friday morning, November 3, 2017, at New Perspective in Faribault.

Janette Carol Johnson was born June 3, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Carl and Lillian (Olson) Ekberg. She was raised in Minneapolis and attended South High School. After completing her education, she worked at Norwest bank and at Powers Department Store. She married Willard “Bill” Johnson on May 14, 1955, in Dubuque, Iowa. After marriage they lived in Minneapolis until moving to Little Chicago in December 1963 where the city girl became a country girl. There they raised their family.

It is with great sadness that we say our second goodbye to Janette (the first good bye came with her advanced Alzheimer’s) but take care in knowing that she is in a better place.

Janette was a member of Solor Lutheran Church. She was a devoted Mom and Wife. She enjoyed watching her Grandkids and family gatherings. Cooking and baking bread, vegetables and flower gardening, horses and always feeding and watching the birds.

After raising her kids, she worked at Gramps Corner and always greeted customers with a friendly smile, also worked for her daughter at Rabbit Express.

Survivors include her children Bill (Cheryl) Ekberg of New Hope, Pamela Johnson (Dean O’Neill) of Waseca, Steven Johnson of Faribault, Judy (Steve) Brekkestran of Faribault, Barbara (Dennis) Akers of Northfield; eight grandchildren Jammie Tuma (Ken Asselin), Kristine O’Neill, Katie Ekberg, Daniel Akers, Brenton Ekberg, Troy O’Neill, Scott (Olivia) Brekkestran, Paul Brekkestran; three great-grandchildren Kayden Asselin, Hannah Brekkestran, Addison Akers; one brother Jim (Kay) Ekberg; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister Diane Shelley.

Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Solor Lutheran Church in Webster. Interment will be in Solor Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation 4-7PM Friday (11/10/17) at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
