Florraine Williams, age 91 of Northfield, passed away on Saturday evening, November 17, 2018, at Reflections on the Three Links Campus.

Florraine Flora Williams was born December 29, 1926, in St. James, Minnesota, to Christian and Emmy (Schaper) Hoffman. She was raised in St. James, confirmed at First Lutheran Church, and graduated from St. James High School in 1944. She attended St. Olaf College, graduating in 1948 with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She taught high school in Richfield and after retirement continued to educate by volunteer tutoring in Minneapolis. On June 11, 1950, Florraine married Joseph Wangen at First Lutheran Church in St. James, in a double wedding with her twin sister, Lorraine. Joseph passed away unexpectedly on November 24, 1958, while the family lived in Oslo, Norway. On June 12, 1961, Florraine married Dr. William Trygstad in Minneapolis. William passed away on January 12, 2009. She married Jerry Williams (her twin sister’s surviving husband) on June 6, 2009, at Bethel Lutheran Church and the couple made their home in Northfield.

Florraine was a woman of quiet dignity and strength. Never one to be outspoken she would share that strength with her family when she thought necessary, her words of wisdom. Her faith was deep and her answer to troubling questions was “I’ll pray about it and you should too”. She traveled often to see members of the family who were ill or elderly bring them her love and her delicious cooking. Her secret pleasure were clothes, she enjoyed a good shopping trip. Florraine loved her family, was an avid reader and did beautiful needlework.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry; son, Marcus (Robin) Trygstad of Houston, Texas; daughters, Jody (Larry) Hoffman of Hastings, Kirsti Trygstad of Sparta, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Hillary, Kristina, Grant, Alexander, and Matthew; great-grandsons, Anders and Jonathan; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husbands Joseph and William, grandson David, her identical twin Lorraine Williams, and her brother Waldo Hoffman.

Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Monday, November 26, 2018, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Northfield. Visitation will be one hour prior and a reception will follow. Interment will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, November 27, 2018, in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James.

Memorials are preferred to Bethel Church Library Fund, the Parkview West Library Fund at NRC or Luther Seminary in St. Paul.
