Obituary for Esther Ferguson

Esther Ferguson, age 87 of Northfield, formerly of Worthington, passed away Tuesday morning, December 4, 2018, at Evergreen Lodge on the Northfield Retirement Community campus. Esther Maxine Hamilton Ferguson was born April 18, 1931, in Harlowtown, Montana, to DeWitt and Lena (Nissen) Hamilton. As a child she moved with her family to a farm near Reading, Minnesota, where along with farming they raised turkeys. Esther Ferguson, age 87 of Northfield, formerly of Worthington, passed away Tuesday morning, December 4, 2018, at Evergreen Lodge on the Northfield Retirement Community campus.

Esther Maxine Hamilton Ferguson was born April 18, 1931, in Harlowtown, Montana, to DeWitt and Lena (Nissen) Hamilton. As a child she moved with her family to a farm near Reading, Minnesota, where along with farming they raised turkeys. Esther attended school in Worthington, Minnesota, and graduated from Worthington High School. She married Myril Ferguson on January 13, 1952. After marriage they made their home in Worthington and Esther worked as a press operator for Worthington Printing Company for a number of years. After leaving Worthington Printing, she began working for the Worthington Daily Globe in the paste-up department, retiring in 2007 after 30 plus years of service. In 2008, she moved to Northfield to be near her daughter and family. Esther was a life-long member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington where she was active for many years. She was kind, quiet and caring. She will be missed.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Clancy Dokmo of Northfield; 2 grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel) Utesch of Westchase, Florida, Alesha (Jason) Anderson of Rogers; 3 great-grandchildren, Averi, Taylor and Carson. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Kall.

Interment will be in Summit Lake Cemetery, Reading.

    So very sorry for the loss of this lovely lady. She was so kind, gracious and fun to be with. She was a very good friend of my mom and a good friend of mine. Fond memories of her when I was growing up and later on in years of meeting for coffee and the shopping we did together.
    May she live on in your hearts and memories.
