Donna Mae Van Sickle Webster, age 94 of Northfield, passed away Saturday morning, October 12, 2019, at the Care Center of the Northfield Retirement Community. Donna Mae Webster was born June 18, 1925, in Medford, Minnesota, to Lawrence and Etta Mae (Lee) Ahrens. She was baptized and confirmed at Medford Congregational United Church of Christ. Donna Mae Van Sickle Webster, age 94 of Northfield, passed away Saturday morning, October 12, 2019, at the Care Center of the Northfield Retirement Community.

Donna Mae Webster was born June 18, 1925, in Medford, Minnesota, to Lawrence and Etta Mae (Lee) Ahrens. She was baptized and confirmed at Medford Congregational United Church of Christ. After graduating from Medford High School in 1943, Donna worked for Jostens in Owatonna. In 1948, she married Harley Van Sickle in Minneapolis, and after marriage they farmed in River Falls, Wisconsin. In 1949, they moved to Waterford Township near Northfield and Donna worked at the Waterford Meat Market, Northfield Café, and the Carleton College Bookstore. Harley passed away in 1968. In 1974, Donna married Duane Webster in Northfield. After marriage they moved to Clinton Falls and Donna worked at the Owatonna Meat Market until 1987. They moved to Owatonna after her retirement. Duane passed away in 2001.

Donna was talented at handwork, enjoyed traveling, and was an avid volunteer for many organizations. She was a member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the Medford Congregational United Church of Christ. She belonged to Rebekah Lodge in Northfield. In 2008, she was named Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year for Steele County – with recognition at the Minnesota State Fair. Donna had a memorable smile that would light up a room and a boisterous laugh that will be missed.

Survivors include her children, Terry (Carol) Van Sickle of Dundas, Susan (Bruce) Nelson of Red Wing, Kathy (Steven) Schmieg of South Haven, Julie Sydnes of Northfield, Nancy Thiessen of St. Cloud; her daughter-in-law, Colleen Van Sickle of Madison Lake; her step-daughters, Judy (Mike) Bartz of Waseca, Julie (Larry) Krenske of Kenyon; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; 3 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grand-children; nieces, nephew and cousins in the Owatonna area, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harley Van Sickle and Duane Webster, her son Randy Van Sickle, her step-daughter Jane Wright, her sister Jean Kilness, her brother Lawrence Ahrens, and her parents.

A celebration of Donna Mae’s life will be at 11:00AM, Friday, October 18, 2019, at the Chapel of the Northfield Retirement Community. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow. Interment will take place in Union Cemetery in Medford.

Memorials are preferred to the Northfield Retirement Community.
