Clinton Kruse, age 89 of Northfield, passed away with his wife of 68 years by his side, on Sunday afternoon, June 23, 2019, at Reflections on the Three Links Campus.

Clinton Doyle Kruse was born September 11, 1929, in Pine City, Minnesota, to Ed and Bertha (Beusch) Kruse. At the age of six months, he moved to a farm with his family and was raised by his siblings after his mother died. After graduating from Northfield High School in 1948, he joined the US Army National Guard. On January 9, 1951, Clint married Mary Ann Rezac at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. They had met through Mary Ann’s brothers. After marriage they were stationed in Alabama until Clint’s deployment to Korea. Upon his discharge, they returned to Northfield and moved into veteran housing on the Carleton College campus. Amongst other jobs, Clint worked as an electrician until retiring in 1991. He served for 23 years on the Northfield Fire & Rescue Squad.

Clint was a longtime member of the Church of St. Dominic. He enjoyed playing baseball for Webster and Northfield, family vacations at Lake George, and going to the family cabin on Lake Mazaska. In retirement, he was able to spend time on his favorite hobbies – hunting and fishing. He was a hard worker, caring and concerned, had a good sense of humor, and loved his family dearly.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; their children, Mike of Northfield, Kevin (Laurel) of Winona, Pat (Janet) of Kenyon, Connie (Jim) Bastyr of Lonsdale, Dan (Tammy) of Winona, Ed of Gilbert, Brian (Kristy) of Dundas, Sue (Kevin) Keppers of Northfield; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends. Clint was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon in 1997, 12 brothers and sisters, and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00AM, Thursday, June 27, 2019, at the Church of St. Dominic, Northfield. Visitation will be 4-7PM, Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday beginning at 9:00AM. Interment with Military Honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Northfield. Pallbearers will be Christopher Kruse, Jesse Bastyr, Justin Bastyr, Hunter Kruse, Jeremie Kruse, Jacob Kruse, Steve Kruse, Jeff Kruse, Adam Kruse, Cody Kruse, Tyler Kruse, Josh Keppers and Brandon Keppers. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters.
