Arlene Kluver, age 89 of Northfield, passed away Thursday morning, April 26, 2018, at the Three Links Care Center.

Arlene Meyer Kluver was born June 1, 1928, on the family farm in Lake Hanska Township, Brown County, Minnesota, to Paul and Mabel (Paulson) Meyer. She was baptized at home through Zion Lutheran Church, attended District 54 country school, and graduated from Hanska High School in 1945. After high school she moved to St. Paul to work for 3M and State Farm Insurance. On November 30, 1946, Arlene married Robert Kluver at the Lake Hanska parsonage, and the couple made their home in St. Paul. In 1957, they bought their farm in Greenvale Township. In 1965, Arlene began working for Carleton College as a secretary to the Associate Dean of Admissions; she retired in 1995.

Arlene was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed celebrating Jesse James Days, traveling, crocheting, reading and playing cards, along with time spent with friends and family.

Survivors include her children, Robert “Rusty” (Nancy) Kluver of Northfield, Regina (Clark) Nelsen of Elk River; her grandchildren, Sabrina (Andy) Johnson, Melissa Nelsen (Patrick Henry), Robby (Tes) Kluver, Bradley (Katie) Kluver; her great-grandchildren, Lyra Kluver and Drew Johnson; her sister, Betty Ann (Arden) Hanson of Roseville; other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, son John, and her sister Fran McCarthy.

A celebration of Arlene’s life will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, May 5, 2018, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Bradley Kluver, Robby Kluver, Sabrina Johnson, Melissa Nelson, Hartwell Amlee, Daryl Knudsen and Marvin Rahman.
