Alvern Jensen, age 94 of Roseville, passed away Thursday morning, October 12, 2017, at Reflections Care Suites on the Three Links Campus in Northfield. Alvern Halverson Jensen was born June 23, 1923, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, to Henry and Elsie (Katzenmeyer) Halverson. She was a Litchfield High School graduate and while in high school became the organist of Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. Alvern Jensen, age 94 of Roseville, passed away Thursday morning, October 12, 2017, at Reflections Care Suites on the Three Links Campus in Northfield.

Alvern Halverson Jensen was born June 23, 1923, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, to Henry and Elsie (Katzenmeyer) Halverson. She was a Litchfield High School graduate and while in high school became the organist of Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. She graduated from the Minnesota School of Business and attended the University of Minnesota night school while being employed days. On March 24, 1945, Alvern married James R. Jensen. She took classes from noted chef Verna Myer, meeting regularly at members’ homes to prepare, evaluate and enjoy food. She was a passionate golfer and a member of Midland Hills Country Club for 55 years.

Survivors include her sons Thomas (Bobbi) of Woodbury, Dr. Mark (Heidi) of Waconia, Dr. James (Debra) of Prior Lake; her daughter Elizabeth (Dr. Robert) Shepley of Northfield; her grandchildren Nicholas (Kinzie), Zachary (Megan), Jonathan (Molly), Leif (Hannah), Christopher, Kara (Tyler), Rebecca, Christian, Eric, Colin, Michael, and Tracy (Matthew); and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011, her sisters Lois Mickle and Bernice Holmlund, and her brother Clayton Halverson.

Memorial service 10AM, Friday, December 29, 2017, at House of Hope Presbyterian Church, 797 Summit Avenue, St. Paul. A reception will follow.

Memorials are preferred to the Holland/Jensen Dental School Scholarship Fund, U of M, 515 Delaware St. SE, Mpls, MN 55455.
