Alta Christine “Toots” Barber, a resident of Roff, Oklahoma, was born April 29, 1937 in Marshall, Minnesota, to Werner and Alta Christine (Rasmussen) Nelson. Alta Christine “Toots” Barber, a resident of Roff, Oklahoma, was born April 29, 1937 in Marshall, Minnesota, to Werner and Alta Christine (Rasmussen) Nelson. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday February 20, 2020 at Davis, Oklahoma, at the age of 82.

Alta grew up in Marshall, Minnesota, where she graduated High School. On June 30, 1958, she married John Barber, the love of her life, enjoying a wonderful life together for 62 years. She worked side by side with John in their auction business and at the family farm. She spent her free time traveling around the country with her 3 girls showing their horses and participating in related events.

In 2011, Toots and John moved down to Oklahoma from Northfield to spend kinder winters with their daughters and granddaughter, while still spending summers enjoying Minnesota. Toots treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma. She enjoyed traveling and meeting new people, and making new friends everywhere. She always had a warm smile that people enjoyed. Toots and John were longtime members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield.

Survivors include her husband, John; her daughters & their husbands, Lori Bravo & Francisco of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Gwen Carpenter & Doug of Sulphur, Jill Yanz & Tom of Hastings, MN; her granddaughter, Natalie Christine Bravo; her brother, John Nelson of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life for Toots will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM and a reception will follow. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Randolph.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to Cross Timbers Hospice at 207C Street NW Ardmore, OK 73401
