Elaine Person, age 84 of Northfield, died Monday morning, May 12, 2014, at Evergreen Lodge of the Northfield Retirement Community.

Elaine Clarice Zacher Person was born September 1, 1929, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Ephraim and Mabelle (Skjepstad) Zacher. She married Eldon Person on August 5, 1955, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Minneapolis. Over the years Elaine worked for the State of North Dakota Department of Public Instruction in Bismarck, the International Luther League Office of the ELC in Minneapolis and the United Methodist Church in Northfield.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM Monday, May 19, 2014, at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis with Rev. Stephen J. Cornils officiating. Interment will be held later in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo. Visitation will be at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.

Survivors include her husband, Eldon; three children: Rev. Truls Person and wife Kathy of Santa Barbara, California, Rev. Gretchen Person and husband Mark Ring of Franklin, Tennessee, Trevor Person & wife Mary Catherine of Little Rock, Arkansas; two grandchildren: Trevor and Karis Peringson; two sisters: Ruth Davidson of Saukville, Wisconsin, Kathleen Erickson of Minneapolis; other relatives and friends.

Memorials are preferred to Mt. Olivet Church – Cathedral of the Pines Camp at Lutsen or Mayo Alzheimer research.

    My sympathy to the Person family on the loss of your wife and mother. I worked in the office with Elaine many years ago at Northfield Freezing Systems. May your memories of special times together bring you comfort during this difficult time.
