Diane Marie (Knutson) Keefer was born August 3, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to William and Gerry (Wood) Knutson. She graduated from Roosevelt High school in 1972 and attended St. Mary’s College. She pursued her passion for health and wellness, and dedicated her life to sharing with others the benefits of Yoga and Pilates – most recently with her dear friends at the Northfield Senior center and Carleton College. Diane was loving, energetic, vibrant, inspirational, optimistic, and one of the most beautiful people on earth!
Diane would often say, “I couldn’t imagine life without music.” Her obsession with music ranged from the Beatles to Pink; she even tolerated the Blues Harmonica that Dennis constantly “encouraged” her to listen to. Although the slightest bit of turbulence in an airplane would send Diane into a “tizzy,” she happily accompanied Dennis as they traveled the world. Together they visited, among other places, Aruba, Hawaii, Alaska, Paris, New York, Carmel, and Napa Valley. She also loved her frequent trips to see her sister Nancy (and Chuck) in Clearwater Beach, FL, and her favorite B & B destination of Lanesboro, MN.
Diane and Dennis loved riding their Harleys. Some of Diane’s most memorable motorcycle trips were to the annual Sturgis Rally (SD), Bayfield, WI, Door County, WI, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She said riding across the Mackinac Bridge on the steel grating to the Lower Peninsula was the scariest thing she’s ever done in her life!
Diane’s uplifting spirit touched the lives of the many people she has met on her journey through life. She will always be loved, and never forgotten! Namaste!

Survivors include her husband, Dennis of Millersburg; her children: Brian (Grace) Markovich of Prior Lake, Jessica Markovich of Burnsville, Billy Markovich of Stillwater; her parents, Bill & Gerry Knutson of Eagan; her sister, Nancy (Chuck) Kratz of Clearwater, Florida; her brothers: Tom Knutson of Eden Prairie, Kent (Ninfa) Knutson of Macungie, Pennsylvania; her step-daughters: Heather LaVance of Escanaba, Michigan, Hillary (Burt) Grady of Cave Creek, Arizona; 3 step-grandchildren: Zackary, Noelle and Colin; 2 nieces: Jacki Knutson, Alyssa (Ray) Knutson Sumption; one nephew, Dylan Knutson.

Diane passed away with her husband and family by her side on Sunday evening, April 27, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester at the age of 59.

Services will be 10AM Friday, May 2, 2014, at Minnehaha Communion Lutheran Church, 4101 – 37th Ave So., Minneapolis, with luncheon to follow. Visitation will begin at 9AM.

I only knew Diane for a short time, but she truly touched my life. Diane and Dennis were so special on all those Sunday evenings at Boonies pub in uptown Millersburg, we looked so forward to there visit always big hugs and smiles coming and going, lots of laughs. Maybe a little euchre, that Diane did not catch on to well. Ron and I looked forward to her sharp red car pulling into the orchard for her apples, and visits out in the gardens. Diane you will be with me always. Love ya sweetie.
