Doris Irene Christenson was born October 18, 1921, on the family farm in Webster Township, Rice County, Minnesota, to Gilbert and Ida (Olson) Christenson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Highview Christiania Lutheran Church and attended country school at Eidsvold.  Following her education she moved to St. Paul with her brother Orville and worked for a dry cleaner.  A few years later they moved back to the family farm.  In the mid-1960′s, both Doris and Orville moved to Faribault.  In the late 1970′s, after Orville’s death, Doris moved to Northfield.  She has lived the past 15 years on the Three Links Campus – in the Apartments, the Cottages, and most recently Reflections.

Doris was a longtime member of Highview Christiania Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed going to coffee, visiting with friends and music.  When she was younger she sang in the choir and at weddings.

Survivors include her many nieces, nephews and extended family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mae Cross, her brothers Orville and Maynard, and her niece Marvilyn.

Doris passed away Tuesday evening, February 11, 2014, at Reflections, at the age of 92.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, February 15, 2014, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield with Rev. Michael Mandsager officiating.
