Rosemary Catherine Meier Haas was born March 12, 1924, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Joseph and Helen (Lethert) Meier.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark’s Catholic Church and graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1942.  Following her education she worked as a secretary at Bremer Bank and American National Bank.  She married Jack F. Haas on September 4, 1948, at St. Columba Catholic Church in St. Paul.  After marriage they made their home in St. Paul until moving to Fairfax in 1952 and to Northfield in 1958.  While Jack ran his medical practice Rosemary made their home the centerpiece of the neighborhood for the children and their friends.

Rosemary was an active member of the Church of St. Dominic where she was involved as a Sunday School and Confirmation teacher.  She was a true prayer warrior.  She enjoyed writing – poetry – stories – letters, swimming, cooking, outdoor activities, walking, traveling with Jack, going to the Senior Center, and had a passion for music right until the end of her life.  For 20 years they made their summer home at Leech Lake near Walker and their winter home at Sun City West, Arizona.  Rosemary had a good sense of humor, was optimistic and cheerful, and a wonderful lifelong care giver to family, friends and those in need.  She had a special place in her heart for her grand and great-grandchildren.  Her love of the Lord was the centerpiece of her life.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Jack; 5 children and their spouses: Mary and Tom McGovern of Northfield, Ruth and John Huber of Northfield, Frederick and Sarah of Eden Prairie, Dick and Pat of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Philip and Jennifer of Eagan; 11 grandchildren: Moriya (Sam) Rufer, Matt (Kelli) McGovern, Sarah (Mike) Lynch, Andrea Huber, Rolf Haas, Anya Haas, Noah (Katie) Haas, Chelsea (Matt) Lund, Brady (Casey) Haas, Rachel Haas, Zachary Haas; 9 great-grandchildren: Riley, Simon, Marielle, Bastian, Callie, Kendra, Ellie, Josie, and baby-to-be-born;  her brother-in-law, Martin Conner of Madison, South Dakota; her sister-in-law, Marsha Meier of Woodbury; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by parents, her sister Joan Connor and her brother Joseph Meier.

Rosemary passed away with her husband and family by her side on Sunday evening, December 1, 2013, at Southview Suites of the Northfield Retirement Community, at the age of 89

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 AM Thursday, December 5, 2013, at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield with Fr. Dennis Dempsey officiating.  Music will be provided by…….  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Northfield.  Casket bearers will be her grandchildren.  Visitation will be 4-7PM Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service.

Memorials are preferred to St. Dominic’s School.

Arrangements are with the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home.
