Clarence Frederick Everman was born June 19, 1923, in Jordan, Minnesota, to Emil and Martha (Meyer) Everman. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and graduated from Jordan High School in 1941. Following high school, he attended Carleton College in Northfield until 1943 when he was called up by the US Army. During WWII he served in Europe as a German Translator and following his honorable discharge returned to Carleton in 1945 to finish his degree in Economics, graduating with the class of 1948.
Clarence’s professional career began as an Assistant Director of Personnel with The Glidden Company in Chicago. He took time off to attend graduate school at the University of Chicago and then returned to the Glidden Company until moving on to work as Credit Manager for Sears Roebuck in Wausau, Wisconsin and at the W.T. Grant Company in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. After returning to Jordan, Clarence began working in 1961 as the insurance agent for Northwestern State Bank (now Frandsen Bank), retiring in 1982. On April 3, 1966, Clarence married Edna Miller at Christiania Lutheran Church and after marriage they made their home in Farmington. Clarence was a member of Christiania Lutheran Church and enjoyed politics, history and the company of his loving caregivers.
Clarence passed away Friday evening, November 16, 2012, at his home in Farmington, at the age of 89. He is survived by relatives and friends including Marie (Meyer) Hille of Milwaukee, Diane Schmidtke of Farmington, Margaret “Pege” Miller of Lakeville, and Patricia Robertson of Apple Valley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; his parents; and his companions Beverly Gnos and Violet Bohanon.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Christiania Lutheran Church in rural Lakeville with Rev. Dave Mesaros officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Northfield. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral.
Memorials are preferred to Christiania Lutheran Church.
